HONESTLY - How do you rate your company's software procedures and processes?

The Towards Software Excellence site provides a self-assessment "healthcheck" facility and corresponding guidance on best practice (the Route Map) that is based upon the ISO/IEC TR 15504 International Standard. This Standard (strictly, a Technical Report) aims to help software-developing organisations to systematise, compare, assess and - most importantly - to improve their software engineering processes. The Standard - and the TSE website - focuses upon the general set of activities termed "software lifecycle processes", that govern software development at a project, managerial and organisational level rather than attempting to provide any specific technical detail. The development of Towards Software Excellence was jointly funded by the Department of Trade and Industry and The National Computing Centre. From March 2005 an annual subscription fee of £350 (plus VAT) is levied for on-going development and maintenance.
